Coupon Honesty

January 15, 2009

It is up to us, the consumer, to use coupons as the manufacture intended them to use. When a coupon is used in ways that the manufacturer did not intend it not only hurts them but the store that took that coupon and in the end the consumer. Manufacturers will stop offering coupons and that would not be good for my mental state because I LOVE TO COUPON and SAVE MONEY!

With that said I was over at Common Sense with Money and read her post about how she felt about coupon useage – read it here.

In addition to Mercedes article, Crystal from the Thrifty Mama delivers a thought provoking post regarding the use of CVS coupons. Read her post here. I had also read an article that Andrea from Mommy Snacks posted here regardomg e-coupons and printed coupons.

Now, you may think, what’s the big deal? The big deal is this – it is dishonest to use a coupon in a way the manufacturer did not intend for it to be used. Who are you hurting when you do use coupons illegitimately? You, and all of us couponers, even the ones that seek out these coupons HONESTLY and post about them on our blogs for others to benefit from the deals we find. So, the next time your gut tells you its wrong – listen because it probably is not a valid offer.

Please, in this day and age, we all need to police ourselves and make sure we are using the coupons legitimately so that we can continue to save our money – ONE $BITE$ AT A TIME!
