Day 3 and Day 4 of the Challenge

July 16, 2009
By

I am late posting this but here is how we are doing so far:

On Tuesday I did not buy breakfast or Lunch. We did eat at Panera Bread as I had a dog training session with a client and by the time we would get home it would be way to late to eat so we ate at Panera Bread on a Gift Card so no out of pocket there.

On Wednesday I did not buy breakfast or lunch (lunch provided in a meeting) but we did buy dinner out of pocket. I had a riding lesson to give and by the time we were done at the barn it was late and both Bear and I were to tired to even think about cooking. I’m going to try and make up some mini-meals that we can pop in the microwave when we get home, take our showers and eat. So we ate out at Eat Rite – a favorite Late Nite diner we frequent. Think Route 66 back in the 50’s – 60’s and that is it – they have no booths just a counter with stools, an old time pin ball machine, cigarette machine (I thought these were non existent) and a Juke Box, they had an old time one but just recently switched it to a more updated version.

Today I am not buying my breakfast, I will be eating oatmeal, and I brought my lunch – Roast Beef Sandwich with Cheddar Cheese, pickles and fruit.

It is getting easier – I will be depositing the $90.00 I made in the last two days (dog training and horse riding lessons) into our Emergency Animal Fund. I’ll make an additional $65.00 on Friday for another dog training session which will go into the EAF as well.

Good idea about the microwavable lunches. We take our left overs and freeze them in "lunch" size containers and Den takes one for lunch every day.
Good job with making $90. Scrapping together every penny is becoming an art form. And I love to see when someone fills their "fund".

I do the same as Den…taking frozen leftovers to work everyday for lunch. So that they don't seem like leftovers, we put each evening leftovers in containers, then put them at the back of the freezer, rotating the oldest to the front. If it is leftovers from a meal last week, it doesn't seem like leftovers…it seems like new food. LOL!

I always take breakfast with me as well, oatmeal, fruit and cottage cheese, breakfast tacos, etc.

As you continue not to buy lunch and breakfast, it will become more of a habit and not seem too hard at all.

Frances, Thanks for the information – never thought about the rotation part – I guess we will start that this weekend. It is getting easier – I'll post Day 5 tonight!
