Eat at home/Take your lunch Challenge.
Well, Day 5 was good – no money spent on Breakfast or Lunch – we did eat out Friday night as it was our bi-monthly eat out at our favorite restaurant – Syberg’s!
Saturday dawned early as we were headed to the auction. Margie was looking for a nice kid’s horse to pick up. Bear ended up getting me one and Margie got a nice little grey mare.
We had biscuits for breakfast at home with butter, honey, and jam. Bear did a side job and got a little “mad money” and all he could talk about was the Ice Cream with Strawberries from the Auction. Let me tell you this, if you are interested in picking up good tack at very reasonable prices AND horses, not to mention getting some GOOD food then Stop at the Rolla Horse Auction in St. James. They run their auctions every 1st and 3rd Saturday’s of the month. The food is made from scratch and is very reasonable. I had a Cheeseburger/Fries and a coke for 4.50! Bear blew the rest on his – I didn’t even want to know but I believe it was a Hot Dog (he loves them), fries, a soda and the ice cream.
We did not go to bed until 3:30AM Sunday Morning from the Auction. I got up at 7:30 and drifted in and out of consciousness till about 9:00 watching TV. Bear got up at about 9:00 Am. We ran to the barn and fed, hayed, and watered the horses and then we went to eat with the money Bear had left from his “mad money”. As we were driving down the road we were pulled over because our tag (which was inside the front driver window) was not visible by the Deputy. Also our windows on the Truck (we have been driving this truck for 3 years without an issue) on the Driver and passenger side are too dark and illegal – it passed inspection in MO and we had no issue with this!
The deputy was nice enough to let us go with a warning – I’m looking into how to remove the film from the windows. Bear will be putting our tags on this weekend as there is something he needs to get to attach the tag to the back of the truck. UGH!
I worked with our new horse – his name is Luke and he is very handsome and oh, is Kit very jealous – I have to make sure I acknowledge her first, give her treats first, and feed her first. It will blow over soon enough.
For dinner we had Hamburger patties, mac – n – cheese, and green beans. Bear took the two patties left over and put them in a container for his lunch on Monday.
Week two of the Eat at home/Take Your lunch Challenge
Monday Bear gave me some money left over from his mad money as we were running late and I had not had a chance to put lunch together. Monday evening we had two free coupons for Arby sandwiches from two survey’s and their Jamocha Shakes were ½ price after 7pm. We waited till 7 and for $5.00 got two sandwiches and large fry and two shakes! It was worth it since we were both so tired – the weekend was catching up with us big time!
Tuesday I will be taking a bag of the shrimp that I got at Wal-mart on sale, and fruit. Bear took a sandwich and chips.
Tonight for supper we will have Chicken breast in Mushroom gravy with a vegetable.
So far we are saving a ton of money eating at home and I hope we can keep this going – Bear is picking our tomato’s and peppers almost daily. He is eating the tomatoes as soon as they come off the vine – I do have some squishy green wormy things that the chickens really like that are eating our maters – I pick them off and put them in a container and then take them to the chicken coop and feed them to the chickens.
