The truth and nothing but the truth

Okay, I think I am cooled off enough to talk about what happened.

I tried to use my Debit card for a small purchase and it was denied. I have money in my checking account so I’m not sure why it was denied. I go to the ATM to do a balance inquiry (free) and it show my account is in a negative balance of 364.00! Well, after I picked myself up off the floor it hit me – the check from Farmington Auction where I sold my saddles bounced. I ran upstairs and looked on line and sure enough – the check that they gave me for selling my saddles had bounced.

Picture someone with steam coming out of their ears, and nose, eyes glazed red and fangs beginning to appear – that was me. I was mad, so I looked up the number online and called them. I apparently got the guy who handles only the cattle side (poor guy), I bet he was lucky I wasn’t gunnin’ for him, but he was kind enough to give me the person (Kim) who is handling the horse side’s cell phone number.

I called and of course it rolled right to voicemail – left a voicemail message and advised that I wanted this handled TODAY! An hour passes by and no phone call, so I call on my cell phone and again get her voicemail but I just hang up. Now I am seething and thinking up all sorts of diabolical things to do to this person for messing with my finances! My cell phone rings – it is her.

I tell her that I attended her auction on Saturday (July 11) and sold two saddles and the check she gave me has bounced and I would like to get this resolved today! She told me she would contact her bank and get back to me straight away – my fangs started to recede just a bit.

Two hours pass and I have not received a phone call back from her so I call her again. She advises she is on her way to the bank to get this resolved. I told her that I did not want another check that I would have to have cash. This is where it gets interesting.

She wanted me to drive to Farmington to pick up the money and I said – No, this was her mistake and I had plans for this weekend and I wanted this solved today and that she should bring me the cash so that I can get my balance in the positive. I told her the longer she waits the more it will cost because I had some outstanding checks that would surely be returned if I did not get the money in the bank as soon as possible. She then had the B**ls to ask me if I had a friend or relative that could come get it. I told her I didn’t and that if I had to cancel my clients to go pick up the money from her that should would not only be paying for my check charges but for the clients riding lessons that I had to cancel and my mileage and time to drive to Farmington. I told her that I run a business as well and that as this was NOT my fault it was up to her to fix the issue.

Well, now it gets more interesting because she calls me 2 hours later (right before the banks close for the day) and states that her banks says the check has cleared and I said no, it hadn’t because her bank returned the check to my bank NSF which last I knew meant non-sufficient funds. If it had cleared her bank then her bank would have paid the draft to my bank and not have returned it NSF and I would have the money in my account and we would not be havin’ this conversation. About now she is strummin’ the last nerve I have and when I lose my patience the person better beware. She just could not understand that this was HER issue to deal with and I shouldn’t have to do anything but wait for her to bring me my money! This person is dumber than a box of rocks and getting dumber by the minute.

She then calls me back 30 minutes later and says that HER BANK made the mistake and had paid it then marked it NSF and that is why it was returned. I told her that I didn’t care whose mistake it was that my issue was with her because she wrote the check and not her bank – her issue was with her bank. All I wanted was the money because that was all the money I had till payday at the end of the month and I had checks outstanding not to mention fuel had to be purchased. I wanted my money and I didn’t care how she got it to me but I wanted it made right.

You know how people play DUMB (Dumb and Dumber movie is coming to mind – just can’t tell who she reminds me of) so they can get out of doing something? Well, I don’t think she has to play to hard – she was borderline Stupid – and you know you can’t cure stupidity! I told her I was drivin’ and couldn’t write down her “banker lady’s” info but to call back and leave me a voicemail with the info. I also informed her that this does not release her from any responsibility for the Non-sufficient check – she is ultimately responsible for the returned check.

I ended up having to call her bank this morning, and have her “banker lady” tells me that it wasn’t their fault and it wasn’t her fault entirely – I told the lady that I didn’t give a “you know what” who’s fault it was I just wanted whoever could make it right to do so! I also told her that if I didn’t get my money into my account today or have cash in my hand to make it to my bank today that my attorney would be getting involved and someone could rest assured that they would be paying my attorney fees on top of everything else. I told her that I had held my temper regarding this and it was getting mighty hard to continue holding my temper because no one wanted to step to the plate and make it right.

My Credit Union has been awesome during this whole ordeal. They have worked with me through the entire issue and even called the other bank to ensure the wire transfer was initiated correctly.

I am waiting, as I type, for the wire transfer to hit and they advised that they mailed the $20.00 charge that I received for the NSF fee to me in the form of a money order.

What I can’t get through to the person who wrote me the check that this is her issue and regardless of whether there was a pay regardless on her account if she had had the money in there to begin with this would have not happened so she caused the ball to start rolling.

ARGGGHHHH! Never, I mean Never, mess with our finances as this will make me very angry and Louise will have to come out and she isn’t very nice according to Bear!

Okay, my Credit Union just called and the money has arrived! The charges I incurred because of this fiasco will be mailed to me in the form of a money order from the bank.

I’m just glad this nightmare is over and our money is back where it belongs!

So, as you can see, my focus was entirely on how to get our money back as quickly as possible – I will be posting my other posts later today!

Wow, this story is unbelievable, and I'm sure that bounced check really sucked!

Hi Marilyn! Thanks for stoppin' by and yes it did for 24 hours but the bank wired the money to my account – further – the lady has never called me back to confirm I received my money and everything is okay! Can you believe that and she wants to run a business!
