Dino Received his Wings Today

September 18, 2009

It is with a sad and joyous heart to let everyone know that Dino was called to heaven this morning and received his wings. Charlie was waiting for him and she is now going to show him around. He can now be the rambunctious colt that he never got to be here on earth.

I know he kicked up his little heels as he crossed the Rainbow Bridge where he met Charlie.

To my little man Dino – Rest in Peace Baby, you earned the wings.

“I’ll lend you, for a little while, a Horse of mine,” He said.
For you to love while he lives and mourn when he is dead.
It may be two or seven years, or twenty-two or three,
But will you, ‘til I call him back, take care of him for me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you, and shall his stay be brief,
You’ll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay, as all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there I want this horse to learn.
I’ve looked the wide world over in my search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes, I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love – not think the labor vain.
Nor hate me when I come to call to take him back again.
I fancied that I heard them say, “Dear Lord, thy will be done.”
For all the joy this horse shall bring, the risk of grief we’ll run.
We’ll shower him with tenderness and love him while we may,
And for the happiness we’ve known, forever grateful stay.
And should the angels call for him much sooner than we planned,
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand.”

To those who think – Why all the stress over an animal – then I feel sorry for you in not knowing the joys of interacting with these beautiful creatures.

Suzanne Clothier is quoted as saying –
“There is a cycle of love and death that shapes the lives of those who choose to travel in the company of animals. It is a cycle unlike any other. To those who have never lived through its turnings and walked its rocky path, our willingness to give our hearts with full knowledge that they will be broken seems incomprehensible. Only we know how small a price we pay for what we receive; our grief, no matter how powerful it may be, is an insufficient measure of the joy we have been given.”

We willing loved and then let go of Dino and Thanked God for the opportunity he gave us and look forward to many more of these opportunities of knowing, loving more of his beautiful creatures and that my special Charlie Angel and Dino will be watching over us.

Rest in Peace Little Man for you truly are an Angel! I love you!

I am so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I know all too well the pain that is felt when an animal leaves your life.

So sorry Nancy! How very sad. I am sure you did everything you could. I have never had a horse, but as a pet owner, it can be heart breaking, but so rewarding.
