Happenings at the Ranch

April 11, 2010

We spent the entire day at the barn and it was WONDERFUL! Beautiful day, nice weather, and NO BABY!!! She is dripping milk and waxing and we keep saying that it’s going to be today but you know, only God knows when he will give us this little angel. We are praying that we have a healthy baby that is gorgeous! Foxy seemed a bit restless today, I gave her an extra flake of hay and she was able to get out for a while to enjoy this weather. I also gave her a carrot and had a discussion that we needed to get this baby here.

Remember this post about Purina program that has rewards and coupons? Well, if you sign-up you get a coupon for $10.00 off one of their premium feeds – I signed up on Wednesday and I got my coupon TODAY! I have two $10.00 off coupons which will come in handy for getting feed for Foxy and the baby. If you haven’t signed up then hurry and sign-up – the first 50,000 will get a free hat too!

I took some pics of JAMES THUNDER (JT) and his favorite Person Bear. This colt adores Bear and the feeling is mutual. He is an appaloosa but is a solid Buckskin (which is what we want from Foxy after it being healthy). He has a gray/black mane and tail and is just gorgeous – but I’m probably biased myself. Bear walked up while I was takin’ pics and once JT saw Bear well, here he came – lookin for the carrot! We had to get a picture of him in his new halter (Bear one this at the horseshow last year with JT).

It was too funny, Nanny Goat slipped into the arena with Kit, JT, and Luke. Once JT realized she was out there, well let’s just say he shouted “Let the Games Begin” and went to chasin’ that little defenseless goat. Nanny Goat was hollerin’ and then if that wasn’t enough Kit got into the fun and I was at the gate hollerin at Nanny to get her big fanny over here – she could not get to the gate fast enough! We got her out and bless her heart she was breathin’ hard like she had ran a marathon but here is why – SHE IS FAT! This is right before she became “IT”. I can just hear her now – BAAAA- HELP ME! – BAAAAA!

This is Oprah and she is outside of the arena and I’m sure she is thinking she was glad that Nanny was out there and not her. Oprah is more stand offish, she does love a good rub but tends to be stand offish and reserved. Nanny on the other hand is the more investigative, snoopy, get in trouble kind of goat.
This is after I rescued Nanny and she and Oprah followed me up to the barn. She is lying in front of Kit’s stall down our shedrow. She was tuckered out and Oprah found Kit’s stall guard quite amusing.
They heard me rattle the carrot bag and they had to come investigate.

Once Nanny and Oprah realized we had carrots up by us they moved up and she conned Bear into giving some love. He is scratching her chest and believe me – she goes comatose if you hit the right spot. It was so cute, she walked up and looked at him – ladies, it must of been the eyes because he normally does not mess with the goats too much or he must have felt sorry for what his precious JT had done but she got her chest scratched and all was well again.
I tried to take a picture of the biggest tadpoles that I have ever seen in Margie’s pond. I think these are bullfrog tadpoles they are so huge!

Margie mentioned Margarita’s as we were beginning to feed and that sounded real good to me – I was able to work Luke and Kit and Bear worked JT. Can you say two Margaritas! I normally can only handle one and I usually get frozen so I won’t drink them so fast but I ordered the Blue Margarita and it was on the rocks. Oh, was it soooo good and actually Bear helped me out so I ordered a second one (my downfall)!

Bear is tellin’ me he only had a little sip but that little sip sure seemed to deplete the drink in the glass!

Now, I’m going to watch NASCAR for a bit and let you guess what is on the agenda for tomorrow for us – hint – the picture below will give you an idea!
