The Blood work is in…….

July 13, 2010

Last week Bear and I both went and had our blood work pulled.

I received the letter with my results from one of my Doctors. When I was diagnosed with Diabetes, my A1C was 8.5% and my three month average was 197. My Glucose management Doctor gave me some goals and we chose a path of Diet and Exercise to see if we could get to my goals.

She set my goal A1C at <7% - well my test results show that in two months time I've reduced my A1C from 8.5% and 197 to 7.4% and 166! I'm slowly trending down! My Thyroid is a bit low which means I'm now taking more medicine than I need and will discuss on my next visit he said. My potassium was low and I know it is because I've had some terrible leg cramps. I've begun eating the bananas (only a half since they are carb loaded) and drinking G2 Gatorade. The low potassium is due to the diuretic I take and we believe that I can start to reduce this down the more weight I lose - I'm down 40 lbs now! Things are beginning to look better. I will know my liver test results when I go see my specialist but the lowering of these results, my doctor says, will help with my liver. I’ve begun to take Vitamin E in a natural form and Fish oil caplets. I can tell a big difference in my joints already. I have been so scared after being diagnosed with the SteatoHepatitis. After reading up on this disease, I knew that I, and only I would be able to reverse the damage to my liver. I am drinking more White and Green Tea which have been said to aid in liver function, and drinking water with the juice of a whole lemon. They say that lemon will help liver function and promotes good liver enzymes. I’m hoping my liver tests are all good! Bear’s test results were good except his blood glucose was very high. The Doctor wants to see him ASAP to adjust his meds. I told him if he would quit eating that crap he eats in the morning and move to more healthy snacking and drink water, tea or diet soda that he will improve his numbers. I’m very proud of him as he is reducing his soda intake to Diet Mountain Dew – only one that he and I can drink without wrinkling our nose and he is eating good snacks in the AM. I am hoping that we will be able to reduce his Blood Glucose levels significantly so that he does not have to increase his meds! Well, that was the good news I wanted to tell you! Hope everyone has a great day!

Good for you guys! I had awful leg cramps during my second pregnancy and over the counter magnesium supplements solved the problem (just an FYI for you).

    Keep up the good work!

SonyaAnn, Thanks for stoppin' by! I think this is the result of taking soda out of my diet and if I need a soda drinkin' diet Mountain Dew! Whatever it is – I'm likin' it!
