Out of this world – Quick Beer Bread

October 10, 2015
By

Valerie Bertinelli had a recipe on her show called Crazy Quick Bread.  Well, it looked good so I decided to try it, but, with some slight modifications.

This bread was SO GOOD! What a treat with Raging Bear Ranch Homemade Potato Soup or Hobo Stew !  If you decide to try this bread, please let me know how you liked it and if you changed up the ingredients!  Happy Baking!

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups self-rising flour

3 tablespoons sugar

1 can or bottle (12 ounces) warm beer (Warm is important because of the yeast)

1  1/2 cups of shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese

1/4 cup (Or more) of chopped green onions (I’m trying some wild onions next time!)

Here’s the kicker, the base is the flour, sugar, and beer – you can add whatever you wish – parmesan, herbs, or go more sweet bread with cranberries, dried cherries, cinnamon and apples.

Salted butter, for serving and for greasing the loaf pan

Directions

Special equipment: one 8 1/2-by-4 1/2-by-2 1/2-inch glass loaf pan

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F; generously grease the loaf pan with butter.

Whisk together the flour, sugar, beer, Sharp Cheddar Cheese, Green Onions  in a large bowl until evenly incorporated yet slightly lumpy. Transfer to the prepared loaf pan. Bake until golden and a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean, 45 minutes. Unmold onto a rack and let cool. Cut into 1-inch slices and serve with butter.
